Hetzer 1/6 42rocker build thread.

Post by 42rocker »

It starts! I bought the program and printed some of the print and assembly manuals.

I just bought a small 3d printer about 10 days ago.

Anycubic Kobra 2 Neo

It seems like a nice 3d printer. Not big enough for the Hetzer but big enough to do the smaller pieces of the Cromwell.

Right now, busy printing Chess pieces. Last night my Wife took control, and we printed a Rose.

Printed the MG-34 machine gun halfs and ammo can. Interesting, not perfect but very close.

Going to order some ABS and PETG later this week. I'll see how I feel about another 3d printer at that time also.

Thinking about the 3d - Anycubic Kobra 2 Max which can print those materials and is big enough to print the Hetzer!

Well, may your 3d prints stay stuck to the plate till they are done.

Well printed 4 track links so far with and without extra supports. Interesting.

Now printer nozzle is jammed up. From the Chess pieces I might add....

So evening is booked for nozzle area takedown and rebuilding. Always something new to learn.

Well, it's Saturday night and I'm back to printing Chess pieces. Taking the nozzle group apart was fun. Found and fixed everything, so far. Ordered some spare parts and an Anycubic Kobra 2 Max. This way I can print the big Hetzer pieces.
I'll use the Neo for track and the Max for the body pieces. Or something like that.

Well, may your 3d prints stay stuck to the plate till they are done.

I'm have bad luck with that right now.

Monday night and I'm printing a new style of Chess piece.
I hope that tomorrow night I'll finish setting up the new Anycubic Kobra 2 Max and start printing a few Hetzer pieces.

Well, may your 3d prints stay stuck to the plate till they are done.

I'm doing a little better with that tonight.

Hi,
I am usng Elegoo Neptune printers so my advice may not apply to your machine, but check if you have a long 0,4mm needle in your printer kit.
If filament blocks the nozzle you may be able to remove filament and pfte tube and put the needle thru the heated nozzle from above, In my case it saves a lot of time, comapred with heat block disassembly.

Thanks for info. I was able to fix by taking apart and finding several pieces of filament in the feed motor gear area. Cleaned the gear area and put back together and it's working. Did the needle thing first which did not fix the motor gear clog.

Well, may your 3d prints stay stuck to the plate till they are done.

If not use Elmers white school glue. I just did it while printing out a 1/6 scale kettenkraftrad main body. Used a lot of white glue during printing and it did the trick.

Now on to some more Hetzer pieces.

If you had filament between the gears, it could have been a bad pressure setting (of these gears).
It can also happen with improper retraction settings or simply with a nozzle clog (even partial).
Alternatively, when you're printing too fast at a low temperature and it doesn't melt the plastic.
Then the gears start slipping and material collects there.

When printing with ASA it slowly collects there anyway - whatever you do.
Then you just need to clean it regularly.

By the way, how are you doing with the printing?
I assume you have already finished a large part of Hetzer.

I hope it's nothing serious.
